ลักษณะทั่วไป
ไม้พุ่มสูง 1-2 เมตร ลำต้นกลม ผิวลำต้นเป็นสีเขียว กิ่งอ่อนมักเป็นสันสีเหลี่ยม ใบเป็นใบเดี่ยวเรียงตรงข้ามรูปไข่ หรือรูปวงรีสีเขียวอมเหลือง ดอกออกเป็นช่อที่ซอกใบ มีขนาดเล็ก กลีบสีขาว โคนกลีบติดกันเป็นหลอด ปลายแยกเป็นสองปาก ล่างมีจุดแดงประกายม่วงผลเป็นผลแห้งแตกง่าย
สรรพคุณทางยา
-ทองพันชั่ง ใช้ดับพิษไข้ รักษาโรคผิวหนัง ริดสีดวงทวาร แก้ไอเป็นเลือด
-ทองพันชั่ง ใบหรือรากนำมาต้มประมาณ 1 กำมือ รับประทานเช้าเย็นทุกวัน จะเป็นยาขับพยาธิได้
-ทองพันชั่ง ใช้รักษากลากเกลื้อน ให้นำใบสดหรือราก 1 กำมือ ตำให้ละเอียด ผสมน้ำมันก๊าด หรือแอลกอฮอล์ทาวันละ 1 ครั้ง จนกว่าจะหาย
