ลักษณะทั่วไป
จะเป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุกที่มีลำต้นอวบน้ำ สูงประมาณ1 ฟุต ใบมีลักษณะเป็นรูปเรียวรี ขอบใบหยัก เป็นฟันเลื่อย ผิวเนื้อในสากหยาบ ดอกมีลัษณะเป็นสีขาว ชมพู แดงม่วง กลีบดอกคล้ายกลีบกุหลาบ ผลเป็นรูปรี มีสีเขียว เมื่อแก่เต็มที่ก็จะแตก หรือดีดตัวออกเป็นเมล็ด เมล็ดมีลักษณะคล้ายเมล็ดดอกบานเย็น
