ลักษณะทั่วไป

เป็นพรรณไม้ล้มลุก จะขึ้นเป็นกอใหญ่สูงประมาณ 1 เมตร ลักษณะของลำต้นเป็นรูปทรงกระบอกแข็งเกลี้ยงและตามปล้องมักมีขปกคลุมอยู่ เป็นพรรณไม้ที่มีอายุหลายปี ใบแตกออกเป็นกอ ปลายใบแหลม และผิวใบจะสากมือทั้งสองด้าน ดอกออกเป็นช่อกระจาย

สรรพคุณทางยา

-ตะไคร้ มีสรรพคุณทางยา เช่น บำรุงธาตุ แก้โรคทางเดินปัสสาวะ ขับลมในลำใส้ ทำให้เจริญอาหาร
